So do you use spongy applicator thingies for your eye shadow?Yeah, well then that's why your make up never looks like the make up artists make up. The only thing they are good for is the bin!
After you've thrown them out come back here to me till I tell you what you need.
When doing eye make up I will generally use 5 different eye shadow brushes. one for packing the colour on, 2 for blending , one for high lighter and one for gel liner. This might seem like a lot but they all have their own, pretty compulsory, function.
Did you notice there's not a single spongy applicator thingy in sight? BIN THEM!!
Any words highlighted pink in any part of my blog is hyper linked and will bring you straight to the website where you can find the product :)

Flat eye shadow brush
I use this brush to pack the eye shadow onto the lid. I find this to be the best kind of brush for doing so because its quite dense and firm and can hold a lot of product, giving you a much stronger and longer lasting eye shadow.
When you are dipping the brush into your product, just gently pat the brush over the shadow, as many times as necessary, in order to pick up a good amount of product. Before actually applying the shadow just give the brush a little tap in order to remove any excess.
Instead of doing a sweeping motion across the eye lid, take the eye shadow brush and literally pat the colour onto the lid. This technique, along with tapping your brush, will also minimize product fall onto the cheeks which will make for a cleaner eye shadow application.
You can buy this style of brush in absolutely any make up store/counter.

Blending brush
Holy moly I love these brushes!!
These are the brushes that are responsible for making eye shadow look perfectly blended and smokey.
Due to the dome shape of the brush It fits perfectly in the crease of the eye lid allowing for perfect blending!
I usually dip this brush into my eye shadow, very lightly, just to apply some product to the very tip of the brush. Place the brush into the socket and start moving the brush in a series of small, circular motions. Always start off with a small amount of eye shadow. You can always add more. It's a nightmare to try and remove if you have used too much.
I would never be without this brush! If I don't have it, I feel like my make up just isn't going to look good.
I use two of these brushes when doing my eye shadow. A slightly larger one for medium colours and a smaller, more precise one for dark colours. For example if wanted to give an eye look more depth, I'd add a tiny bit of black with the smaller brush just to make it seem a bit more dramatic and smokey.
My all time favorite one is the blending brush from Crown brushes. They are ridiculously cheap and feature in the beauty shows in the RDS. I'm going to the RDS at the end of September and I guarantee you I will be stocking up on these!! In fact, You would be able to buy pretty much all of the brushes I mention here on www.crownbrush.co.uk. Love love love Crown!!

Highlighter brush
I absolutely love this brush for highlighting the brow bone! It's so perfect!
Again, I got this from Crown brushes UK. It's called BK30 Badger blending brush.
It's perfect for lightly high lighting the brow due to its fluffiness. It literally applies the perfect amount without giving you an over highlighted look.
You have complete control of the product, gradually adding more if needs be.
I cannot recommend Crown brushes enough! They are so affordable and the quality is that of professional standards. I am so glad I came across them. They are a staple for both my kit and my personal make up bag.

Liner brush
I much prefer this style of eye liner brush to the slanted style ones. I just think you have way more control and precision with it.
I could not imagine doing my gel liner with anything else!
It's so perfect for gel line and liquid liners (if you don't fancy the brushes that come along with the liquids. They can be very thick)
If you are a gel liner user, You will need a waterproof make up remover.
Not only for removing the liner from your eyes but also to remove it from your brush.
If you leave gel liner in your brush it will dry hard and you will not be able to use it again.
Just a tiny drop of waterproof make up remover on a piece of tissue will take care of it for you.
I usually keep a mini of it in my make up bag.

All of these brushes, for me at least, are essential. I use each of them every single day, without fail, and that is no lie.
Give www.crownbrush.co.uk a look and see what you think. The prices will amaze you, I guarantee it.
I will be stocking up on all of them at the beauty show in the RDS this year. I literally can't wait!!
If you do order anything from Crown, let me know. I'd love to know what you got!
